I had a reasonable week with both the Roman dresses being refunded in full. I did purchase another dress for the Awards do – I have a feeling that might go back too. We’ll see.

One of my long-standing clients has called a halt to his marketing. I’m not completely surprised because he’s been so hit-and-miss since we started working together and I’ve never really felt I’ve done a great job for him – his communication is terrible and I’m never really sure what he wants. However, he’s not paid me for October’s activity yet and I need to invoice him for this month’s activity – it’s a worry.

I do feel a bit out of control at the moment, but not money-wise. I should have given myself a little leeway as far as Christmas spend goes, though. I’ve really only budgeted for Christmas from Dec 1st, but having been away for the weekend I did start to buy a few bits already. I have a new client who is very demanding, and their job is taking up so much of my time.

I’m also very anxious about the Print IT Awards do next week – 13 out of the 14 submissions I entered on behalf of dealers and existing clients were shortlisted and I think I know that 2 have already won. I really want two of my existing clients to win but I know I can’t influence the results and I’m worried that if they don’t win, I’ll lose their business….so irrational but that’s how my brain works. Aaaghh!

My family are focussed on buying their gifts at ‘Black Friday’ prices – can’t say I blame them, but I feel so pressured to get my list to them when I’m so busy at work. It’s not December yet!

Having issues transferring a mature Virgin ISA. I’ve always had issues with them! I’ll see if I can get it worked out. I’m not very good with this sort of thing.

Here are the scores for the past week (70% to pass):
1) Current Account in Credit in its Own Right: 100% (A)
2) Keep Remorseful / Frivolous / Wasteful Spend to a Minimum: 80% (B-)
3) Full Payment by Customers / Family / Band*: 80% (A)
(*This is where I've sent an invoice/asked for payment)
Therefore, I award myself the following Score/Grade: 87% (B-)

Apart from having to pay postage on the returns to Roman (I gave up trying to fight them, they were useless), going a bit bonkers on the Lottery (no wins!) and spending money on expensive flowers and fizz for Mum (she deserves them!), I’m generally managing my frivolous spend ok.

My work is steady and I have some more new work scheduled in, which is great news and I’m feeling ok about it at the moment.

I just need to make sure I’m ready for Christmas, because I just know that’s going to be a massive expense.

Here are the scores for the past week (70% to pass):
1) Current Account in Credit in its Own Right: 100% (A)
2) Keep Remorseful / Frivolous / Wasteful Spend to a Minimum: 80% (B-)
3) Full Payment by Customers / Family / Band*: 100% (A)

My accounts are pretty healthy, and I’ve got another monthly retainer job on the go (albeit not a great payer) and I’ve had to pay for Terry to accompany me again to the PITR Awards this year (it was expected and I’m taking the money out of my e-Saver).

I’ve had a couple of annoying issues:
(1) Dartford Crossing serving a PCN because they said they had no record of me paying on the return journey, for Porthos to cross back from Kent, in August. I challenged this immediately, because I had an email of proof of payment. However, this challenge was rejected on the grounds that, even though I paid I had not paid for the right car. Get this: instead of typing in a capital O in the reg number, I typed a 0 (Zero). Luckily, they let me pay £2.50 rather than the £70 they normally charge for a rejected challenge! What a cheek eh!

(2) I ordered 1 dress from Roman Originals but when I looked at my credit card statement, I had 2 pending amounts from PayPal, for 2 of the same item. However, I only received 1 email confirmation and the order wasn’t showing up on my order history (and still isn’t). I only knew there was an issue because I saw 2 pending amounts from PayPal on my credit card, but I have no order confirmation for the second one. What’s more, I received 2 dresses in separate packages, at the same time, but a delivery note in just 1 of the bags – so, basically, I have no confirmation of the second order. I need to return the original dress I ordered, now, as it’s the wrong colour – looks grey on the website and deep black in real – life – but I can’t send both of the dresses back because I don’t have any paperwork for it. Angry now!

Apart from that, the band was paid well by The Wheatsheaf pub on Saturday, and they’ve invited us to play for them on NYE next year (all being well). My customers are generally paying on time so I’m ok with that and my frivolous spend is light.

Here are the scores for the past week (70% to pass):
1) Current Account in Credit in its Own Right: 100% (A)
2) Keep Remorseful / Frivolous / Wasteful Spend to a Minimum: 80% (B-)
3) Full Payment by Customers / Family / Band*: 95% (B+)
(*This is where I've sent an invoice/asked for payment)
Therefore, I award myself the following Score/Grade: 92% (B+)

I’ve been quite fortunate this week because I’ve had a couple of new projects in that I didn’t think I was going to get – one from a customer who now clearly uses AI and another that is hopeless at staying in touch or giving any direction whatsoever.

My credit card bill was quite manageable this month and my current account was in excellent shape at the end of the month (due to not having to pay a massive dentist bill), so that has meant I didn’t need to transfer so much salary across.

One of my customers didn’t pay me on time so I had to chase them but that now means that November’s pot is already quite healthy.

I’ve just spent a bit of money on myself but that’s an outfit for the Awards Do in December so I could almost put that down to a work expense…maybe I will.

The other thing I did was pay for the band’s last rehearsal on PayPal. As I don’t normally have any money on me, so Terry ends up paying, I thought it was time I did something to contribute.

So here are the scores for the past week (70% to pass):
1) Current Account in Credit in its Own Right: 110% (A+)
2) Keep Remorseful / Frivolous / Wasteful Spend to a Minimum: 100% (A)
3) Full Payment by Customers / Family / Band*: 95% (B+)
(*This is where I've sent an invoice/asked for payment)
Therefore, I award myself the following Score/Grade: 101% (A+)
