| I read do hard things yesterday and responding instead of reacting. I need to practice more uncomfortable situations and staying calm. I think so much of the conflict between Matt and I comes from me reacting poorly after difficulties communicating. I also have this sense that I need to protect Matt or sometimes don’t understand him (ie why that picture is funny which objectively I get because the goal of Diet Coke is completely off while I find it sad it captures a moment someone who is supposed to care about you hurt you. At the end of the day I should let you process things how you like and not make you take my worldview and I should probably care less about understanding yours. I hope we can try an partner excersize from the book later to practice (or I can do it with Maddie). | |

| Kids were total poops this morning. Maddie broke into her phone and woke up early to watch tv. They talked back. Both kids immediately were sent to their rooms and phone privileges were taken away until after school. After the kids gave up on getting their phones and stopped getting sent to timeout, they payed together well and everything was so much better. Jack does so well without Maddie around. I wonder if it’s because Maddie is so strong willed or I’m making up for being so checked out earlier in her life and have been more present with jack. I forgot to brush jacks teeth this morning but all things considered I think it’s been a much better morning. | |
