I set the 4 week goal to read WF and just finished. I have developed and am implementing a social mission directive for my company that includes several pillars - but in relation to this particular goal (research and reflection), we will read study The New Jim Crow (each week together) along with the study guide. xoxo

This weeks reflection and discussion revolved around 'reverse racism' being nonsensical. It took me back to an experience I have when I was 19 on a service trip in Appalachia - white people were poorer then black people and it was always talked about as reverse racism by the leaders of my group and the white people that lived there. Except by one woman. it is not until now that I understand that what was happening there was not 'reverse' but far more nuanced and complicated. it is not that simple. I've been discussing this with my children this week, who challenge this notion. This is hard and it is forcing me to continue to work on talking about this that is not just a regurgitation of Robin DiAngelo. xoxo
