Caffeine makes me anxious now, and I can't even imagine having a coffee. I've also learned a lot about Hypothalamic Pituitary Axis (HPA) dysregulation, and genetic inheritance, and how these may affect an individual's ability to tolerate caffeine. I am irritatingly grateful for this educational opportunity - may I be blessed with many misfortunes for me to investigate. :)

I have had a couple of small dark chocolate bars in moments of weakness, one right before bed, which made it difficult to sleep, and resulted in me sleeping in but not getting a good quality of sleep... I have been sick a lot this week (G.I. issues, including severe nausea and vomiting), and have reduced my medication by 5mg, so my willpower is less than usual. Nevertheless, I think I have done a good job so far in avoiding hot chocolate when I was tempted to make it; avoiding caffeinated black tea and green tea, and trying to get more sleep so that I don't feel as much like having caffeine.

I am trying to associate caffeine intake with negative effects like anxiety, which leads to an inability to concentrate.

Eventually I hope to withdraw from a stimulant medication I am on, which, in addition to the caffeine abstinence, should reduce anxiety.

So far, so good. Found that as soon as I created this goal, I had much more desire to have caffeine! Carob powder is my saviour.

There’s nothing sweet about what too much sugar does to your diet and your health. Sugar has been linked to obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, certain cancers, acne, wrinkles and other signs of accelerated aging. But did you know that sugar is as addictive as cocaine, and it’s also damaging to your liver and your brain? What’s more, cancers use sugar to fuel their growth.
