Week 6 & 7
Have been quite busy either finding my way around at Cashmere, prepping lesson plans, or doing relief work at Darfield while Marjorie's kids had chicken pox. I also went to a workshop on NCEA language internals assessments. No problems on the professional front. The question now is how to keep up my physical health and Spanish studies now that I'll be working full time. |

Week 5:
Completed all but one hour of translation. Now I wish I'd let myself get away with that since the reason I had trouble finishing was because of the professional development time I spent moderating NCEA assessments with other French teachers and interviewing for the job I got at Cashmere. Oh well.
For teaching: Prepped for the Cashmere interview, interviewed, and got the job. Also moderated internals with Marjorie and Claire.
For translation: A little translation using OMEGA. Researched how to test for American Translator Association certification, and am ready to request a practice test.
For filing: organized computer files
Stayed caught up on emails, networked with teachers during moderation. |

Week 4:
Completed my checklist on time for once!
For teaching: I updated some old power points, and swept for job postings.
For translation: continued exploring OmegaT
Filing: organized computer files
Got a call for an interview with Cashmere next week :) |

Week 3:
Completed my checklist, once again late, but before StickK turned off my report button, so I'm getting away with it. I have to catch up and stay caught up now, since another evening or weekend working will have dire consequences for my marriage.
For teaching: Swept for job postings - there are none. Organized my notes on prepping first days of class, and methodology into one concise document that I can reference easily. Found some material I'd like to use on a unit about diversity and immigration in France, and also found a site where teachers can sell lessons and products they've created to other teachers.
Filing & Organization: Made progress sorting and purging electronic files.
Translation: Began a free ProZ profile, and explored a bit on that site. Downloaded OmegaT (CAT freeware) and started playing with it.
Didn't contribute to NZAFT or AF, but spent the entire weekend chattering in french with Marjorie at Hanmer. |
