SigmaX commits to:
Do 2 sets of 12 or more pull-ups every day. This number will increase as I work back up to ~16.

Go to bed by 11 PM every day. Exempt only in the case that I'm not home at 11 (ex. My Tuesday class gest out at 10:30, making it tough). Half-hour grace period.

Wake up by 9 AM every day. Half-hour grace period.

Eat vegetables with supper every day.

Limit 1 glass per day of grape juice or other sweetened drink.

NO vending machine food, period.

Floss daily.

I was admittedly lax about bed times, particularly wake-up time, this week. Since I have a new commitment to get to campus and be productive early, I think this is appropriate. The important part is that I be productive early. Gettng up alone wasn't doing that.

Reprogramming the sleep cycle takes more than will power and slabbing ourselves in bed. Try changing your routine starting an hour before your target bedtime. Lower lights (As in no computer, Dad!), lower temperature, and lower stimulation are all excellent steps. Taking some melatonin an hour before bedtime is also promoted but I can't find any controlled studies on it. However, your mother is a believer so who am I to quibble on that. :)

While I've been in bed at 11 regularly, I don't fall asleep till after 12, and the result has been that I can no longer drag myself out of bed at 9:30. The last few days have been more like 10:30.

I might be able to convince Ari to let this slide, but it's a slippery slope! So I'm confessing failure to encourage myself to get to bed earlier. It's important that I stay in the habit of being up early -- otherwise I don't get into work till afternoon.
