Process for making changes:
------------------------------
o This rolls over from week to week until Dec 31st 2020. (It goes from Monday to Sunday (includes going to bed on time on Sunday).
o I can make changes for the week ahead (and future weeks) before bedtime on Sunday.
o In other words, unless I change it before Sunday bedtime, I'm committing to this for the next week. The idea is to commit to this for the rest of 2020.
(The idea of allowing changes is in case there's a good reason to make a change... not to be lazy).

------------------------------
Terms and Conditions:
------------------------------
o If there's a good reason, like going to a social event or helping another person, I can work more hours one day and less hours another.
I get fined if I don't do 40 hours that week... or if I don't do 8 hours in a day, without a reason. (Note: in practice I'm quite lax on what this reason needs to be).

o I have a max of 28 holiday days from Feb 13 to Dec 31 2020, accumulated at 2.66 days per month.
All vacation time needs to be tracked here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DoIJuT-DZi9_rx0MTt7eiAKS0Nh0ZVm0K9Qw3ktuHpw/edit#gid=0
(This contains more info about the vacation policy)

o The no bedtime limit on a weekend is to allow me to do st social if I want to. Ideally I'd still get to bed by 12:30 or 1:00, so my schedule isn't thrown off and I'm not wrecked when I get up at 8:00 on Monday. I can't do st social and then go home and stay up late on my phone.

o If I'm sick or a family member is sick, I can take a sick day. It follows the same criteria it would in a job.

------------------------------
Notes on social:
------------------------------
- It's really good to be social and have loads of social interaction (and fun is good too). The danger on fining for not working... and not fining for not doing social stuff, is that I end up focusing on doing stuff on the computer etc.
Oftentimes going for lunch or a drink with someone, can have a greater positive impact on my business and how much I can contribute to the world. (If necessary, if it's someone that could have a positive impact on business I can count it from work. The ideal is to do both... but if it's like I can't meet up with someone because I still have x hours of work to do, when actually meeting that person is likely to have a bigger business impact than sitting in front of my computer... then obviously I can count that out of the work hours).

------------------------------
A phone habit:
------------------------------
- Don't use phone until after I've meditated in the morning.
- Don't use phone or laptop after 12 midnight. (maybe rare exception if need to send a message)
- Don't use phone in the bedroom.
Try these out and see. May incorporate them as finable in the future.
--------------------------------

(Note: See recording on Feb 12th for some reasons as to why this is important).

Note: I’ve piddled away a lot of time. But much (probably most) of my life’s work and contribution is still ahead of me.. don’t piddle this away too.

See audio note from feb 12th 2020 as to why I need to work 40 hours a week.

Note in Feb : For now, I’m thinking to do 30 mins meditation in the morning and 30 mins later on (rather than an hour in the morning). Reasons: - my knees and back. - Given that one of my tendencies and one of my main risks is to arse around the house, it’s good to get up and out (or at my desk) as quickly as possible. - Energy… with an hour of meditation it’s easy to get kind of spacy etc… spreading it out in two 30-min blocks I think is better. One or both of these can be yoga if necessary… esp if necessary for “as tolerated” by body.

Note: Barring some reason to change it, I hereby set the intention to do metta. Like Rob had a period of a couple years where he just did metta. Some reasons: doesn’t drop energy as much. good thing to do… to be warmer. Can help with motivation… to be motivated by the desire to want to be of service.

(A benefit of doing an hour a day vs less is that in part this gives me a degree of authority. I can’t make videos etc if I’m not doing my own practice.. Helps me have more focus to get things done.
Be the change you want to see in the world… focus especially on metta and compassion practice… I think everyone should cultivate metta and compassion, so I should do it.
If you’re lazy, you’re lacking compassion.
